Removal support is not the same as validating a credential
- JPEGThe cleaner recognizes supported C2PA/JUMBF application structures and removes them in cleaning modes that target provenance metadata.
- PNGRecognized C2PA container chunks are removable while image-data chunks remain in the payload-verification scope.
- WebPRecognized provenance structures can be removed while visual and animation chunks remain part of the scoped payload comparison.
- Verification boundarymetadata.click does not currently validate signatures, trust chains, ingredient assertions or whether a credential was issued by the depicted creator.

Removing metadata does not change legal obligations, disclosure rules or platform policies that apply to your content. Keep original files when provenance matters.
