What is actually checked
Four embedded signal families, with explicit limits.
- C2PA / JUMBFRecognized file-attached provenance blocks in supported containers.
- XMP and editor dataGeneral metadata packets that can carry application or workflow information.
- EXIF and GPSCapture, device and location fields that may be unrelated to AI but still travel with the photo.
- PNG textSupported prompt-like, workflow or software text stored in PNG metadata chunks.
Three-step workflow
Source image → verified clean copy → new Story.
- Select the image file you actually plan to use. Do not select a screen recording or video.
- Download only after Safe Clean finishes and the visual-payload result is shown.
- Create a new Story with the cleaned copy and keep the original file in your archive.
No platform guarantee
Metadata is only one possible input.
Meta says labels can be informed by industry-shared signals and creator disclosure, while its published approach also discusses other detection methods. Cleaning cannot remove a durable watermark or classifier signal, change a disclosure, edit a published Story or guarantee a label outcome.
